We are delighted to announce that we are the 2014 F1 in Schools Junior National Champions! We also picked up the awards for "Best Use Of Social Media" and "Best Verbal Presentation" at the National Finals, which were held in Dublin Castle on Friday May 2nd, as part of the Tech Week Finale!
After 9 months of diligent preparation and hard work, the day finally arrived for us to showcase our project to the judges. We left the school at 6am Friday morning and arrived in Dublin at 7:30am to set up our pit display and hand in our car and portfolio for scrutineering. When everything was ready, the judges came around to talk to us about all aspects of our project, including engineering, marketing, project management and team identity (to name but a few!). The judges were all highly impressed with our project and then it was off to our verbal presentation! This obviously went very well for us, winning "Best Verbal Presentation". The races came next, with us drawing 2-2 with Team Dolfin.
Following a fantastic presentation from Steve Nevey, it was the all-important results. We were out of our seats four times during the awards ceremony (collecting our three awards and a standing ovation for fellow Pres team, Autolaunch Racing who progressed to the World Finals in Abu Dhabi!)
Overall, an absolutely fantastic day with huge success for us and our fellow school teams, with Pres winning six awards on the day! We would like to thank our teachers, parents, friends, family, supporters and all of our sponsors for the fantastic support and belief throughout the competition. F1 in Schools has been a fantastic experience for all of us here at Renaissance Racing and we would like to thank F1 in Schools and ICS for providing us with this amazing opportunity.
That's it from all of us here at Renaissance Racing and here's hoping to plenty of continued success for us and our school, Presentation College Carlow in the F1 in Schools competition!
